As Scouters and parents we often talk about wanting to provide the best we can for our children and young Scouts. Many of the decisions we make are in some form or fashion in pursuit of this goal.
I recently completed Wood Badge training with class 9-439-26. Wood Badge, along with providing leadership training, is a way for Scouters to reconnect with the journey from Cub to Scout, crossing over to a Troop, and working through the Patrol method. For someone who did not grow up as a Scout this was a way to better understand the Scouting experience I am to provide our youth.
My challenge to you (as was the challenge to me), as parents and Scouters, is to really think about what you would like your child to experience in their Scouting journey. We are here for them. It's our move.
